Review: Don Jon has been well received by its regional premiere at Paramount Theatre during the Austins SXSW Film Festival. The film was written, directed, and starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He did a really great job in his writing, and opera, but he may have been trying to do too much. The performance of Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Dance, Glenne Headly, and Brie Larson is pretty good. I think it's Gordon-Levitts script, which leaves something to be desired. His character Jon is a very successful ladies' man, which is heavily dependent on the internet masturbating porn? several times a day. Many people will find the film quite fun and enjoyable. However, the use of graphic porn is not to everybodys taste and be outside putting your audience? especially female viewers. Im also wondering whether the widespread use of pornography leads to the MPAA to give it a kiss-of-death NC-17 instead of R rating.JGLs script is well-intentioned and trying to make it clear that the , many people are so self-centered that they lose the ability to interact with others at the human level. Jon has deadened the real romance with his use of porn. His girlfriend is a very romantic view of relationships based on watching too many romantic movies. Both of them are so self-centered and selfish that they can not really build a true relationship. Still, it was often difficult to guess what JGLs point was, and in many ways has become clearer listening to him during the Q & A after the film. JGL is trying to raise profound questions of human relations in modern times, but he has not quite figured out how to do that, the writer and director. I hope that he will be such a great director and writer, he is an actor. He has a great future ahead of him.
